Pets are considered “property” in California!

Pets are considered “property” in California!

The Issue

Pets are not viewed as part of the family in California. They’re only viewed as property of the owner.  What does this mean? It means that if somebody maliciously attacks or kills your beloved pet you do not get any compensation other than what you “paid“ for the animal.  They can’t go to jail or be convicted of murdering a pet, since they are only considered property, and a misdemeanor.  No amount of money can help with a pet loss, but pets should be treated like other family members and someone should be convicted of a crime.  Many states laws show pets as family members, but California, weirdly is NOT.  Please sign to urge the law of pets as property to be abolished and give our 4-legged family members a voice.
