 Hello Everyone! I am so blessed to call Dr. Joseph Betz a friend. Dr. Betz has been extremely supportive of my efforts to free Jidje. His love, respect, and support he holds for Jidje makes me emotional. He is a wonderful man! I am so grateful for the opportunity he gave me to speak on Jidje's behalf and tell the public his story. To: Saleem, President of Lifers Inc.@ SCI Graterford, all Deserving Lifers In Pennsylvania, and their loved ones, I wanted to inform all of you that I was invited to speak @ The Charles Widger School of Law, Villanova University, by Dr. Joseph Betz ( Villanova) on November 6, 2017. The Lecture was given by Professor Michael Cassidy, who is the Faculty Director of the Rappaport Center for Law and Public Policy @ Boston College. His lecture was on Catholic Social Teaching & Prison Reform. I want to let all Deserving Lifers and their families know that I spoke of them being forgotten, how i would be their voice so the public becomes aware and educated about the invisible Lifer who is never eligible for parole In the state of PA currently, how society can change this law by signing and supporting my petitions for HB135, SB942, SB293, learning about how many men and women who are destined to die by death by incarceration, have fought hard to rehabilitate themselves over decades mentoring other inmates, tutoring, receiving college degrees, attending class after class to become who they are today! Decent, loving, hard working, and humble. They would be an asset to society if allowed to come home. I believe the audience was receptive to what I had to share. My hope, being so fortunate to speak on their behalf, is the public will get involved, sign and share these crucial petitions that would grant eligibility for parole for Lifers In PA after serving a minimum of 15 yrs. SB 942, introduced by Senator Sherif Street, is directly connected to HB135. SB293, if passed, will grant resentencing and eliminate the second degree felony murder law presently in PA. There is a wonderful quote I used when I spoke to the audience, it is the truest quote I have ever read. It is from Benjamin Franklin. He said: " Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are" That is everything we are trying to accomplish in a nut shell. We need everyone in the community to help us be the voice for the discarded, forgotten, invisible men and women who are serving LWOP in Pennsylvania, who have earned and deserve their freedom because of all the hard work they have done to redeem themselves, for society to give them a second chance!
