Replace DACA in Pennsylvania

The Issue

As aspiring educators, we kindly ask that the Pennsylvania State House and Senate not only oppose President Trump’s plan to eliminate the DACA program, but also create a quick replacement of DACA for the recipients in our state who will be disproportionately effected by this unwarranted decision. As soon to be teachers, we are aware that educating immigrants does not make our country unsafe. In turn,
ending DACA would do a disservice to America’s economy in addition to destroying the lives and dreams of hundreds of thousands of American students, teachers, educational support professionals, and more.

The Dreamers of Pennsylvania are the victims of a federally flawed immigration system. There is significant bipartisan agreement that our neighbors, police officers, nurses, soldiers, teachers, parents, children, and friends should not be deported, and “84 percent of Democrats, 74 percent of independents and 69 percent of Republicans think they should stay” (politico). We believe it is our state's duty to protect the communities who make Pennsylvania great by passing legislation that provides a path to citizenship and the ability to reside safely in the Commonwealth we call home.

Please sign our petition compelling the Pennsylvania legislature to pass a replacement of DACA! If education is the pathway to success, it is our responsibility as educators to advocate for that journey of opportunity. Pass it on!
