Keep Our Experienced Nutrition Educators in Philly Schools.

Keep Our Experienced Nutrition Educators in Philly Schools.
The Issue
Experienced nutrition educators have taught Philadelphia students in 48 elementary schools for the past 15 years in the Eat Right Now program. Under a new proposed plan from the School District of Philadelphia, these ten teachers' jobs would be eliminated, to be replaced by fourteen outsourced non-union teaching jobs and four more researchers at the school district headquarters (bringing the total to six researchers). This plan takes away all the experience, expertise, and the long, successful relationships built over many years with students, school staff members, and the communities they serve. We are asking Pennsylvania Nutrition Education Tracks, the providers of the same generous grant that has funded the program each year, to ask the School District of Philadelphia to keep our experienced, excellent nutrition educators and keep the Eat Right Now program a success in so many of our schools.
