This video are what the people of yulin, to their dogs and cats of their community. A larger percentage of these dogs consist of pets stolen right from their loving families. One specific dog, who's name was MaoeMaoe, in which her thief stole her from her masters, was sold to a restaurant owner, who after buying MaoeMaoe dismembered each one of her legs and then proceeded to skin her ALIVE. MaoeMaoe was a gentle and beautiful soul who had just given birth 45 days prior to her torture and was also her masters service dog and very beneficial to them. The rest of the dogs are captured strays from the streets and some raised in dog farms. After these animals are stolen, bought, or captured they are then transported for days without any food or water, crammed in tiny cages together so tightly that they are unable to even move. These innocent animals are stolen for what’s called “yulins lychee and Dog Meat Festival.” Please don't let the word "festival" fool you. This "festival" is an event that starts on June 21st of every year during the summer solstice and it lasts for 10 long horrifying days in which 10,000–15,000 dogs are consumed. However, it is estimated 25 million dogs are stolen, sold, bought, and eaten every year with the illegal dog and cat meat trade. At the yulin festival, throughout those days, these animals will be hung, burned, skinned, boiled, torched, dismembered, electrocuted and beaten...ALIVE..out in the streets for public view. But If that isn't bad enough, they are purposely torture these animals in front of the other animals in order to create even more stress and fear. Why do they eat dog meat? Because they believe that if you eat dog meat it gives the men more sexual stamina, it will keep them cool during the summer's heat and it will ward off evil spirits. The theory behind the torturing and slaughtering them while still ALIVE, is because the people of china believe the more adrenaline and fear that runs through the blood, the more tender and better tasting the meat will be! China's tradition of eating dog meat has been around for over 400 years. However, it wasn't until 2010 when the festival in Yulin began by dog meat traders in order to boost business. Animal welfare activists have been trying for years to get this horrible event banned. But the government of china keeps looking the other way saying there is nothing they can do. Petitions are being signed by millions of people. But as long as they are being sent to the older generation, who still believe in the custom and belief of eating dog is acceptable, and considering china does not have any animal welfare laws, it seems to be going no where. But we are a generation that realizes that is it 2016 and the common sense to know that these acts are immortal and inhumane. This is treatment inflicted on a species that provides so many benefits to humans. They are police officers, service dogs, emotional support for abused children, a child's best friend and childhood memories. They ARE OUR best friends. They never asked to be born and they certainly do not deserve this type of treatment. Therefore, due to the fact that Xi Jinping, the president of china, is deciding to ignore this abnormal, inhumane, and SHAMEFUL behavior and plainly keeps denying our requests, I am petitioning his wife, Peng Liyuan and his only daughter, Xi Mingze to help ban the 2017 Lychee and Dog Meat eating Festival and to quit torturing these innocent intelligent animals. It is his wife and it is his daughter who is a part of the younger generation. They must know and realize that their husband and father allowing this just isn't right and it is ONLY making china a laughing stock of this entire world. People from every country is against it. There are more and more people worldwide boycotting chinas manufactured products unless the festival is banned. This petition is to try and convince president Xi Jinping that would be in chinas better interest to ban this barbaric festival.
