The village school is located immediately after a blind spot on the road, which makes it difficult for drivers to see pedestrians crossing from the school side. This creates a significant safety risk, particularly during busy drop-off and pick-up times.
In addition, many drivers do not adhere to the village’s 30 mph speed limit, and the 20 mph limit that applies during school drop-off and pick-up times is frequently ignored. This combination of poor visibility and speeding traffic makes crossing the road especially dangerous for pupils, parents, and staff.
We have also been informed that a school crossing marshal scheme cannot be provided because the road risk is considered too high. This is particularly concerning, as it means that the current road conditions are regarded as unsafe even for trained crossing staff, leaving families and children without adequate support when crossing the road.
