Petition updateEND CETACEAN CAPTIVITY AT VANCOUVER AQUARIUM!Canadian Cetacean Ban OR Worldwide Cetacean "Research" Market!

The proposed Canadian cetacean ban Bill S-203 has finally passed Senate and is before the House of Commons.
BUT
In its present form this Bill would permit this loophole to keep “rescues” to use for experiments and send to other aquariums. There may well be a new cetacean market under the guise of “research” trade! If you are Canadian then tell your MP to stop all of this cetacean captivity business for entertainment and experiments! Meet with them or email them. The elections are coming so make politicians commit to truly ending ALL captivity!

Vancouver Parks Board Cetacean Captivity Bans

In 2017 the Vancouver Park Board amended the Cetacean Bylaw to permanently stop cetacean captivity. However, the Vancouver Aquarium (VA) said that they will fight to keep who they claim are “rescues” from across Canada who cannot be released. The VA claims that their veterinarian does not make the final decision. However, DFO did not provide Lifeforce with any information about any unbias review committee. Lifeforce has provided information that aquariums are not necessary because the cetacean rescues are rare and involves internationals.

The VA said that they would keep cetaceans until they find another aquarium due to the Parks Board Cetacean Ban. This has been a free wildlife market for aquariums and zoos for decades. As long as the aquarium industry is allowed to get a free source of cetaceans the “entertainment” and lucrative research businesses will continue. This could include orcas, narwhals and others for aquariums worldwide!
