We’re almost to 2,000 signatures!

Since it’s been a little while, I wanted to share an update on pushing for Evie’s Law! 

We are SO close to 2,000 signatures! I have still been working on it behind the scenes! When we hit 1,000 I began sending it to local legislation and news stations, but I did not receive a response. While it was disheartening at first, it’ll take a lot more to stop me from pushing this through.

I am still grieving Evie. I still cry almost every day. I still talk to her constantly. I still see her out of the corner of my eye or swear I heard her bark at something. When I came out of anesthesia earlier this week, guess who I was crying and asking for? And it sucks. At the root of it, knowing that she was taken too soon and nothing can bring her back absolutely sucks.

But this petition is my why. Maybe it didn’t all have to be for no reason. Maybe every single pet who still lives in Kentucky can be better protected because of this loss. 

My plan currently is to reach out to legislation and news stations again when we hit 10,000 signatures. Sure, maybe they didn’t listen at 1,000, but it’ll be a lot harder to ignore at 10,000. And if that doesn’t work? I’ll keep pushing.

I know it will happen. It’s not a matter of if, but when. And once we are able to pass it in Kentucky, I’ll look at what changes can be made federally.

Evie was always larger than life. And there’s absolutely no way I am letting her getting away without being larger than the afterlife too.
