As I continue to advocate for the passage of Extreme Risk Protection Orders (Red Flag Laws) in Wisconsin, another devastating school shooting has shaken our nation. The recent tragedy at Apalachee High School in Georgia is a heartbreaking reminder of the urgent need for this Law.
On September 4, 2024, a 14-year-old student opened fire at Apalachee High School, taking the lives of two teachers and two students and injuring nine others. In May 2023, the shooter was questioned, and red flags were raised. This senseless act of violence serves as a stark reminder of the critical need for Red Flag Laws, which would enable authorities to temporarily remove firearms from individuals who pose a risk to themselves or others, potentially preventing tragedies like this.
My son Henry's life was taken from us far too soon, and I will not rest until we have laws in place to prevent such tragedies. I urge you to join me in demanding action from our lawmakers. Sign and share this petition to help make Wisconsin a safer place for our children.
Together, we can create a world where no parent has to endure the pain of losing a child to gun violence.
