UPDATE: Nevada lawmakers are responding to Nola’s Law 🩷💙🐾

We have an important update to share with everyone who has signed, shared, and supported Nola’s Law. After beginning our outreach to Nevada decision makers, we have now received responses from Senator Julie Pazina and Assemblymember Brittney Miller. Senator Pazina expressed that she would be happy to look at supporting policy aimed at ensuring animals do not end up in the hands of individuals with a history of harming them. Assemblymember Miller shared that she is already working on legislation for the upcoming session addressing restrictions on pet ownership for individuals with histories of harming animals. She told us that the timing of Nola’s Law is “perfect,” that we could “definitely work together,” and invited us to meet with her to discuss it further. To be clear, neither legislator has formally committed to sponsoring or carrying Nola’s Law at this time. But conversations are beginning, and that is an incredibly important step forward. We are overfilled with joy that #NolasLaw is reaching those who have the ability to make real change. This is exactly why every signature matters. We now have the opportunity to bring your voices, your signatures, and your support directly into conversations with Nevada lawmakers. Please continue to sign and share Nola’s Law, and if you have already signed, consider leaving a comment on the petition explaining why you believe Nevada needs stronger protections for animals. Your words may become part of what we bring with us when speaking with decision makers.
