In April, I was pleased to give this bill a hearing in the Judiciary Committee, where it passed unanimously. However, Republican leaders in the divided Minnesota House were determined to keep it from coming to the floor.
Democrats used a rare parliamentary maneuver to get the bill to the floor, where it passed. The bill author, Representative Kim Hicks, deserves a ton of credit. The bill passed the floor easily and has already been signed into law by Governor Walz.
