Hello Supporters,
Every year, one or more bills are introduced in the Virginia General Assembly to protect dogs from being tethered (chained). And every year those bills are killed in the House Agriculture Subcommittee.
As a result, every year dogs throughout the Commonwealth suffer and die unnecessary and excrutiating deaths, often from exposure to extreme heat and cold. Alone, vulnerable, and chained.
It's time to take a stand for Virginia's dogs. Virginia has one of the strongest animal cruelty codes in the country because we believe in protecting the vulnerable among us. Compassion is a value all Virginians embrace.
During one House Agriculture Subcommittee hearing Del. Bobby Orrock of Caroline County, who has consistently opposed every bill to limit chaining, asked: “Would somebody tell me what is inherently inhumane about putting a dog on a chain?”
We are gathering together on the front steps of Del. Orrock's district to answer that question and explain to Del. Orrock that the chain is inhumane.
Join us. Bring your dog and your voice.
If you decide to attend, please find me and say hello!
