Hello supporters,
As you may have noticed, we recently passed 20,000 supporters! This is a big milestone for the petition. My hope is that everyone who signs will also share. Please remember, we are still being met with some resistance from people who DO NOT want this law to pass - simply because they don't believe treatment of their dog should be regulated by legislation.
We regularly see the effects of harsh weather on dogs - and we know we have to push this through. So please, SHARE, and continue to contact your local media about this effort. We need all the coverage we can get!
I also wanted to provide another video update. So far, we have gotten some great interviews and information from:
- Dr. Leslie Jones, DVM (Woodlake Animal Clinic in Midlothian, VA)
- Dr. Courtney Bowers, DVM (Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital at the Richmond SPCA)
- Matthew Gray (Virginia State Director for the Humane Society of the United States)
And next week, we will be filming a segment with Kasey Herrera of 2SpeakDog. Kasey is dog behaviorist in Henrico, VA. She has seen multiple instances of dogs being chained outside for extended periods of time and in extreme weather, and the behavioral changes that result. She will be discussing the ramifications of such treatment.
Please take a moment to check out 2SpeakDog on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/2SpeakDog
We are also planning segments with:
- Stacey Norris of The HOWS Project
- Gracie's Guardians
- Larry Brown of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
- Animal Control
Please stay tuned for more information and thank you for your continued support!
