We claim to be a nation of animal lovers. Yet the lenient laws for animal neglect and abuse are certainly not harsh enough. The RSPCA reports every 30 seconds a call is made to the RSPCA reporting cases of animal cruelty. 

130,800 cases are investigated each year!! Think of the cases that don’t get investigated. 

Just today a dog was found dead having been strapped to a car and pulled to its death. Let’s not just post disturbing videos on social media let’s make a difference! This petition is to call for harsher penalties for animal abuse. 

Over a 100,000 signatures are needed to get this heard In parliament. 

The maximum sentence available for cases heard in Magistrates Courts have increased from six to twelve months. The maximum fine has risen from £5,000 to £20,000. In Crown Courts, where more serious cases are heard, the maximum sentence for animal cruelty has increased from two to five years.

In most cases a small fine and animal owning ban is given. But who monitors this no one!!
