Miles de galgos jóvenes que no cazan suficiente bien, (según la opinión de los galgueros), van a ser matados de distintas maneras no muy agradables. Como, por ejemplo, el ahorcamiento, ser pegado hasta morir, o quedar sin comer para que se mueran de hambre. Por razon de las elecciones en Alemania la semana próxima, ha sido enviada hoy la información de galgo, con nuestras cien mil firmas y fotos de galgos, a los 96 UE parlamentarios alemanes y a los periodicos alemanes. (Más cerca de las elecciones va a ser más dificil discutir otras cosas en los periodicos de Alemania, como es normal en la política.) Sin duda, de un punto de vista político, es más facil introducir en el debate europeo el problema de los galgos, cuando ya están discutiendo mucho la situación en España en los periodicos europeos. Por eso, vale la pena esperar el momento cuando la atención está a tope. (Ahora, la situación no es ideal, por razon que el desastre en la Florida sigue dominando los páginas de noticias extranjeros en los periodicos europeos.) Unos 500 parlamentarios maś van a recibir la información galgo en un momento buen elegido, antes del fin de septiembre. La material galgo está lista para enviar, en 16 ideomas. La información galgo también recibirán muchos periodicos europeos. Las traducciones siguen faltando en: búlgaro, danés, estonio, letón y lituano. Sin estas traducciones, estos países parlamentarios no recibirán material de galgo ahora, pero tendrán que esperar hasta que las traducciones lleguen. The traditional methods of killing the Galgos are brutal, hanging is common. Galgos that have not been good at hunting are hanged with their back paws left on the ground (the so called ’pianist’). Alternatively, Galgos are left in the forest, tied or with a deliberately broken leg, to starve to death. Others are, when still alive, thrown into empty wells or into steep canyons. 50.000 - 100.000 Galgos are killed each year, most of them with these traditional and illegal methods. Other hunting regulations by the EU already exists, such as for example Council Regulation EEC No 3254/91. Todos los años se crían nuevos cachorros de los cuales solamente los mejores se usan para cazar y el resto se matan a empezar la temporada de caza. Alrededor de los 3 años, incluso los galgos que han cazado bien, se matan, porque los galgueros piensan que los galgos jovenes son los más eficaces. Los métodos tradicionales para matar a los galgos son muy brutos, el ahorcamiento es común. Los galgos que han cazado mal son ahorcados con las patas traseras tocando el suelo (lo que se conoce como ’el pianista’). A veces abandonan los galgos en el bosque, atados o con una pata rota, para que se mueran de hambre. A algunos les echan en pozos secos o los tiran por precipicios. 50.000 - 100.000 galgos son matados cada año, la mayoría con estos métodos tradicionales e ilegales. Otras regulaciones de caza en la UE ya existen, como por ejemplo la EEC No 3254/91. Ahora también es hora de prohibir la caza con galgos (si desean también con otras razas de perros lebreles) en la Unión Europea.
