Zoe Davis started this petition to Parks and recreation Parks and Recreation and

As of February 2017 there are over 800,000 dogs in NYC according to NYCEDC. That is over 12% of the population of NY. There over 1700 parks in new York and only 70 are dog friendly with in Brooklyn and Manhattan during certain time frames and most of them do not contain dog runs and they are not fenced in therefore, they are not dog safe. Dog friendly but not safe.

It would be nice if most parks in New York would be more dog safe.  Although these parks Are called “dog friendly” many dog owners know these parks are not safe for dogs to be at because they are not fenced in and they only allow off the leash dogs at parks during certain hours of the day.

I am writing today to request that more parks become safer for dogs and they are able to allow dogs to be let off the leash during more hours of the day, considering the dog population is 12% of the New York population.

How this can happen?

it would be nice if a committee in the parks and recreation organization would raise funds to afford fencing for most parks in NYC and decide if they can extend the hours dogs can be off the leash.

Why?

It is scientifically proven that exercise helps dogs health drastically. Dogs are less violent. It’s great for their heart. Dogs like people need to socialize. And due to the lack of space in New York living, having parks with fences will help dogs get the exercise they need so they can live longer and have the life they deserve.

Please sign this petition so the dogs can live the life they deserve.
