🇮🇨Veneguera, en el sur de Gran Canaria, es uno de los últimos paisajes costeros libres y salvajes de la isla: un barranco que llega al mar, rodeado de riscos, piedra, silencio, olas, atardeceres y una profunda memoria cultural.

Para muchas personas en Canarias, Veneguera no es solo un lugar en el mapa. Es parte de nuestra identidad, de nuestro paisaje, de nuestra historia y de nuestro futuro. Es un lugar al que la gente acude porque todavía se siente libre, natural y vivo, lejos del turismo masivo, del cemento y de la sobreexplotación.

Hoy las obras siguen avanzando en Veneguera. La construcción de un puente y la entrada de maquinaria ya están transformando el paisaje. Muchas personas temen que esto sea el inicio de una transformación más amplia de la zona: más infraestructuras, más intereses privados y más presión sobre uno de los últimos lugares de Gran Canaria que todavía no ha sido absorbido por el modelo turístico.

No queremos que Veneguera se convierta en otro espacio sacrificado al cemento, a los hoteles, a las carreteras y al beneficio económico de unos pocos.

Veneguera debe ser protegida, no transformada.

Pedimos que se paren las obras y que Veneguera sea defendida como un paisaje natural, cultural y público que pertenece a la gente, a la isla y a las generaciones futuras.

No es solo una cuestión ambiental. Es una cuestión de memoria, de acceso, de identidad, de respeto por la tierra y del derecho del pueblo canario a proteger lo poco que queda libre.

Veneguera se ama, se respeta y se defiende.

Veneguera, in the south of Gran Canaria, is one of the island’s last wild coastal landscapes: a valley that reaches the sea, surrounded by cliffs, stone, silence, waves, sunsets and a deep cultural memory.

For many people in the Canary Islands, Veneguera is not just a place on a map. It is part of our identity, our landscape, our history and our future. It is a place people visit because it still feels free, natural and alive — far from mass tourism, concrete and overdevelopment.

Today, works are moving forward in Veneguera. A bridge/construction project and machinery are already changing the landscape. Many people fear this is the beginning of a wider transformation of the area: more infrastructure, more private interests, more pressure on one of the last places of Gran Canaria that has not yet been absorbed by the tourist model.

We do not want Veneguera to become another space sacrificed to concrete, hotels, roads and profit.

Veneguera must be protected, not transformed.

We are calling for the works to stop and for Veneguera to be defended as a natural, cultural and public landscape that belongs to the people, to the island and to future generations.

This is not only an environmental issue. It is about memory, access, identity, respect for the land, and the right of the people of the Canary Islands to protect what little remains untouched.

Veneguera is loved, respected and defended.
