Many of us go out to eat, enjoy the food, and get a delicious beverage. This can be anywhere from a bubbly soda to cocktails to water. What you might not think about, is the straws in those drinks, but when the usage adds up, plastic straws create huge problems for the environment. Americans use about 500 million drinking straws every day. Now, these same Plastic Straws take 200 years to decompose. That's a long time for how many we use, can you imagine how bad the pollution from them is. Eight million tons of plastic flows into our oceans every year, and 100 million marine animals are killed because of this. So, after all this, you can see why I'm very passionate about reducing plastic straw usage. I figured the best way to do this is to try to eliminate them from a business/restaurant that I love and eat at often. This is not to say we should eliminate straws in general because some people need them, maybe we can switch to a biodegradable material.
