On July 25th, the Mayor of Palm Springs, Jeffrey Bernstein, issued this news:
"The City of Palm Springs is pleased to announce that, during today's closed session, the City Council reached an agreement in principle with P.S. Resorts and CReMa: Committee to Relocate Marilyn, to relocate the Forever Marilyn sculpture to a location to be determined in the Downtown Park and move forward with the street vacation. The City expects to have finalization of the specific location within the Downtown Park in the next 30 days."
After 3 1/2 years, it's a step in the right direction to move the statue away from mooning the Palm Springs Art Museum, but it still does not address the fundamental issue of a misogynistic statue being promoted as a tourist attraction in Palm Springs, where thousands of visitors take selfies between her giant legs.
