Mob attacks Hindu shopkeeper in Lasbela

Pakistan Against Extremism
4 May 2017
At Hub Chowki, Lasbella, Balochiatan, an enraged mob once again, chanting slogans against an accused of "blasphemy". This time it is a 35-year old Hindu shopkeeper, Prakash son of Prem Chand, accused of blasphemy for a Facebook post. After being beaten by a mob, he was arrested and sent to jail, but a protest led by religious fanatics demands closure of the shops owned by his family. Independent investigation into such cases shows that behind every case of alleged blasphemy is the story of some kind of rivalry, financial or political power. The accusations are often found to be false and based on malafide motives. Furthermore, these accusations are used to charge up crowds to push a certain ideology and stay politically relevant. Incidentally, this is also happening in India where the 'holy cow' is being used like the blasphemy law in Pakistan.
