Dear Supporter,
On 14th of July, 2019, the Indian and the Pakistani officials met for the second time after a couple of failed attempts to continue negotiating the modalities on the Kartarpur Corridor - scheduled to open on November 12th 2019.
Headlines from the day makes one wonder if any of the two countries care for what Kartarpur of Baba Nanak was envisioned to be?
From the politics being played to the headlines being made, Kartarpur Corridor seems to have been reduced to another version of Wagah-Attari display in the making - that of the macho control and supremacy over each other, between Modi’s India and Khan’s Pakistan under the pretext of peace at the cost of Baba Nanak’s legacy, where his Sikhs have no say.
Post the meetings - I wrote to 'Dawn' to express our concerns on the neglect of ecology and heritage on both sides, India and Pakistan, in planning the corridor, Kartarpur Sahib expansions and Dera Baba Nanak renovations.
