In 2019 314 of Thames Water's sewage Treatment Works spilled untreated sewage into the river Thames, and the average TW works spilled sewage for 289 hours. In 2020 this had risen to 418 works spilling sewage for an average - across the whole Thames portfolio - of 469 hours in the year (almost 9 hours a week). Total measured spills almost doubled from 109,000 hours in 2019 to over 215,000 hours in 2020. The following footage was shot at Cassington sewage treatment works in 2021, and the in-water footage was shot by Windrushwasp.
