The UK goes to the polls on Thursday. A new government is our best hope of ending the catastrophic badger cull policy and to win a better deal for farmers.
Now is a good time to tell parliamentary candidates that killing badgers is not effective in controlling bovine TB. We need to make sure they realise that this continuing the cull is not acceptable to the vast majority of people. Badgers have friends who vote!
Please write to your election candidates and tell them your concerns. Ask them to commit to ending the cull without delay if they are elected.
THIS IS IMPORTANT - PLEASE FIND TIME TO DO THIS.
The main parties are under pressure from the cull industry to carry on killing badgers. Labour party manifesto said the badger cull was 'ineffective'. Yet recently Steve Reed, Labour’s Defra lead, said that Labour will continue to allow pre-existing cull licences, killing up to 30,000 more badgers.
We must speak up for badgers before the election and afterwards.
- remind Labour candidates that the Party admits the badger cull is ineffective and has committed to more effective ways of tackling the disease
- ask all candidates - and whoever is elected to represent you - to speak out and demand an immediate end to the cull.
Please act now, for badgers sake.
