Thank you for your ongoing support for our campaign against Oxford's coercive Public Space Protection Order which would criminalise the homeless and buskers in Oxford. We will be closely scrutinising Oxford's official response to Liberty's legal challenge in the coming months and seeking the removal of any measures that criminalise vulnerable people. Sadly, there is a growing trend towards the criminalisation of street culture across the UK not just in Oxford and we need your support. Refusing to learn from the mistakes that Oxford City Council made, Chester and Cheshire West Council have set up an online consultation on the proposals to introduce a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) which would make it a criminal offence to 'lie down or sleep in any public place', feed birds, or busk without prior authorisation or in the 'wrong' location. It is VITALLY important that as many people as possible complete the online consultation and inform the council that they DO NOT SUPPORT these proposals.
