Dear Supporters of “Our Community Re-Imagines Saint Rose,”
We want to share the good news that YOUR advocacy helped us to reach one of our first goals - asking that the Albany County Pine Hills Land Authority pause all property sales until after the Reimagine Saint Rose strategic planning process is complete and a report is submitted in November.
An article by Luke Nathan in today’s edition of the Albany Business Review (Weds, 10/15/2025) states: Kevin O'Connor, the authority's CEO, recently told the Business Review that the authority would wait to act until the report is complete.
We want to thank the Albany County Pine Hills Land Authority for hearing the concerns in our letter from 9/10/2025 and taking them seriously. We appreciate that Authority Board members are listening to our community and look forward to continuing to collaborate with the Authority on this project.
We also thank the community including the over 375 individuals who signed onto our Change.org petition “Our Community Re-Imagines Saint Rose” and the 10 organizations who also signed onto that same statement: League of Women Voters of Albany County, the Council of Albany Neighborhood Associations (CANA), Beverwyck NA, Center Square NA, West Hill NA, Helderberg NA, Mansion NA, Delaware Area NA, Park South NA and Washington Park NA. CANA in particular, signed on early and shared our outreach with their members.
This is a critical first step for the residents of the City of Albany and Albany County who aspire to have more transparency and input into the best future uses of the Saint Rose Campus. Yesterday (Tues, 10/14/2025), the Pine Hills Neighborhood Association sent a letter to Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy asking “Why these buildings and why now?” and requesting that he share his plans for each of the five buildings that the County is offering to purchase. We shared that letter with the media via the press release on our What’s New page. As you can see, our advocacy is ongoing.
We want to wholeheartedly thank you for helping to make our voices heard! You will hear from us again when we have news or need support from our City and County neighbors and organizations to ensure that this remains a transparent process with meaningful input!
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Carolyn Keefe
