Greg Barns wrote about Mimister Jackie Petrusma chief of staff pressuring Mark Morrissey the past children’s commissioner suggesting he should be supporting the governments view. This undermines the role of the children’s commissioner which should Independent and non-partisan. Because the child protection area is often bound up with trying to forecast potential risk before it happens they make decisions that might not be popular and hence their clandestine approach. Their needs to be more transparency into how this organisation works and the decisions Child Protection Workers make be reviewed externally. They need to registered like any other professional that holds such a powerful position that can take children away from their parents without question. Currently the laws still have that stolen generation feel about them and that needs to change. Please sign our petition and make this organisation and the people that run more transparent. Ultimately it’s about children getting a better deal in life. As Greg Barns says children in care are the most vulnerable people in society. The office of the children’s commissioner needs to be kept totally independent and impartial and at arms length from political parties. Please sign to help keep it that way.
