I heard the rumors but I hoped for the best, but sadly the oscars don’t seem to care as much as we may have hoped about filmmaking.

Before I continue I want to say that I’m not sure who is to blame for this, it could be the oscars who made this decision, it could be the broadcasters.

editors and cinematographers are two of the most important elements to what makes a great movie great, both fields are already unappreciated by most of the movie going audience but by not showing the award being given out the academy awards are now going to becoming a big reason for that. 

I’m bagging all movie fans to sign this petition so, even if it doesn’t change anything, we can show the academy awards that we care and the editors and cinematographers count and are important.

For anyone wondering why I’m not arguing for the case of the other categories that are going to be pushed out, like best short film. The truth is even though I would like to see them give out those awards, nearly everybody watching the awards at home haven’t seen or heard of those movies meaning for them they aren’t getting anything out of those awards, while most At the event have. When it comes to editing and cinematographers, the majority of people watching the show at home have seen the movies nominated and by not showing those films get recognized for their cinematography and editing makes people even less aware of what goes into the movies they love than they did before.
