Congratulations to ALL of you. I want all of you to know that we are starting to ring the bell at the capital. I have been contacted by one of the senators. Not much was corresponded but, the point is, they are starting to listen. As I said, we have strength in numbers and we need more. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Out of over 12,000 views I have had like 6 people contact me that were apposed to the petition. Some were employees of Weyco and others were likely land owners. I would like to clear this up because some just don't understand the point. So in talking to others , remember this is not about taking private property rights away from ANYBODY. There are two issues here. 1. That Land Owners should not be allowed to CHARGE for the purpose of taking wildlife that belongs to all of us. Has nothing to do with getting free access. It simply means they cant do it. We don't care if they want to lock it up totally. FINE ! But to allow a select few citizens that have the $$ to have access for the harvesting of wildlife that belongs to all is in our opinion unethical and boarders being illegal, federally and or state. It discriminates against certain groups of citizens. Oregon's law is NOT consistent. For example the following law in place now in Oregon State for hunting of swines but not other game. Clearly, a double standard. § 498.180¹ Sale of hunts for feral swine prohibited • penalties • revocation of hunting licenses, tags and permits (1) A person may not offer for sale or sell a hunt for feral swine on public or private lands. (2) Violation of subsection (1) of this section is a Class A misdemeanor. A person may not be convicted under this subsection if a civil penalty has been imposed against the person under subsection (3) of this section. (3)(a) The State Fish and Wildlife Commission may impose a civil penalty of $1,000 for a violation of subsection (1) of this section. (b) Civil penalties described in this subsection shall be imposed in the manner provided in ORS 183.745 (Civil penalty procedures). A civil penalty may not be imposed against a person under this subsection if the person has been convicted under subsection (2) of this section. And: 2. That the current tax system in place was approved based, at that time, that Big Timber Land Owners (Not the small timber land owners who are taxed more) would allow access to the public for recreation. In fact they did until up till Weyerhaeuser stuck their greedy nose in Oregon. That is no longer the case and we as the people have every right to demand a change in the tax code that would re-establish incentives for again allowing public access and prevent the INDUSTRIALIZATION of our sovereign rights to hunt and fish. Obviously this would benefit all including hikers, mountain bikers, mushroom picker, the wilderness photographer and more. Guided hunts are different. There your paying for a service. You choose to have someone guide you, set up camp etc. Weyco is also selling pieces of timber land for residential use. They go to the County and request a zoning change. Once they do this, it is broken down to like 20 acre parcels. As a result, our timber lands are becoming smaller and smaller. Check for yourself, Google Weyco Land Sales. The State is allowing this company to industrialize our wilderness and wildlife. None of the above has anything to do with logging and the timber industry. In fact, as many of us know and for those younger folks, Oregon not only was one of the largest timber producers but we had many many mills for processing those logs. This employed thousands of Oregon Citizens. Now.... Well take a look at the ships and yards in Longview Washington. They send all those logs to China and we have to buy the product back. Of course thousands of Oregon jobs were lost. Also, BLM is selling timber rights to OUR LAND and locking us out. The Government is the trustee of the people and that my friend is violating our sovereign rights to our own property (Google this too). Well.. Sorry this is SOOO long but I really wanted all of us to have a clear picture of what this is all about. PLEASE KEEP FORWARDING THIS PETITION !!
