
The following is a timeline description of this property.
Block/Lot 668-H-200-1 (The ROCK Pile abomination)
From 1949 until 2016: It was a wooded lot in Bethel Park Borough. It was a natural barrier/buffer from the hustle and bustle of the commercial area along McMurry Road for homes in the next township of Upper ST Clair.
2016: It was CLEAR cut and most of the waste left lying on the ground. Who or what agency granted the owner to do so is lost in a never-ending bureaucratic sink hole.
April 2019: Bethel Park Borough granted a permit to "Grade" the property. The waste from the 2016 CLEAR cut was piled up out of sight from McMurray Road. The Topsoil was scraped off and also piled up out of sight. BOTH remain there to this day. Not only have we had Multiple encounters with racoons and opossums there is a PACK of coyotes roaming the property.
Late September 2019: The "Grading" is done which consisted of some 2700 truckloads of fill (ROCK) being piled up. It was never level graded and never seeded. What a lovely sight, NOT!
May 2022: The property owner wore down the Bethel Park Planning Commission and they rezoned the property and the surrounding lots from C1/RT to an even more DENCE commercial zone C2.
January 2023: The landowner is applying to change the USC Zoning District Map on the adjoining Block/Lot 668-H-200 & Block/Lot 668-L-116 parcels in Upper ST Clair, from R1/R2 to a more dence R4.
This is what we are fighting. If we are able to do this the owner will have to develop within the R1 / R2 zoning guidelines.
