We have reached an important milestone in our campaign, with Central Glamorgan Rugby Union officially requesting an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).

A requisition notice was submitted to the WRU on Sunday 22nd February. The WRU now has 21 days to acknowledge the request and must then schedule the meeting within a further 28 days. Member clubs will vote on several motions, the first of which is a vote of no confidence in WRU Chair Richard Collier‑Keywood and Professional Rugby Board Chair Malcolm Wall.

CGRU required the backing of at least 10% of WRU member clubs and has thanked “the substantial number of member clubs who have also given their support without the paperwork”.

This is a critical stage in our effort to halt the plans of the current WRU executive board to reduce the number of professional teams from four to three. The outstanding efforts of CGRU should be recognised, and the clubs who have helped bring us to this point deserve real credit.

It is now for WRU member clubs to do what is right, not what is easy — to back these motions and push for positive change, rather than staying silent and allowing Welsh rugby to continue in a state of managed decline.

Please keep sharing this petition, and speak to your clubs to encourage them to support the motions proposed at the EGM.
