Update on a meeting with the Owner - Eastlake Holdings

Hello petition supporters. I am writing to update you on the latest developments regarding the property owned by Eastlake Holdings. Some residents were invited to a meeting with the Owner last mid-December, where they presented their plans for the property. I was one of the attendees and I want to share with you what I learned.

The image above is the revised site plan that shows the drainage way and setbacks, the roadway re-alignment, and enhanced plantings along the border as proposed by the Owner. The Owner also clarified that specific use for the property remains undetermined and that there will be ample opportunity for public input and feedback before any final development plan is approved. Additionally, they assured us that there will be no through-road connections linking this residential area with Karl's Farm. They also explained that as part of the development plans the existing stream flowing through the property will be remediated to some extent to prevent flooding of the decommissioned reservoir basin near the east end of the property.

We should not forget, however, that the Owner's main goal is to rezone this property so that they can sell it to a developer. Depending on your perspective, this could have some advantages or disadvantages for our community. But one thing is clear to me: most of the natural wetland environment that hosts a variety of wildlife that we've enjoyed would not be preserved in its current state.
