As everyone is aware; The point of this movement from Day 1 was to raise awareness and ensure EVERYONE has a say at the table.
We are being labelled as "Anti-Transit" but we are not against transit and have never been. Business owners and Residents alike who are speaking up want more efficient, reliable public transit - but we are also committed to protecting our community and the unique character of this corridor.
This project is a rethinking of what Bathurst is and who it’s for. We’ve heard this story in the past and we have seen the city promise progress, only to pave over its people.
Many of us have been disappointed with the lack of exposure the city and TTC provided to communities prior to the Public Consultation phase. When attending the In-Person Drop Ins & Virtual Meetings, clarity was the underlying issue as the city and TTC were not taking concerns or suggestions into consideration.
What happens to traffic following the changes?
How are neighbourhoods going to be impacted?
How will turning restrictions affect local communities?
Why is there no need to accommodate neighbourhood amenities?
Why rush for FIFA when so many other events attract more people and happen yearly?
These are just some of the questions we've been asking.
The same ones those in charge have been avoiding.
Excluding the varying types of people who require curb side access is not accounting for every segment of the population. We're suppose to be in this together, why are so many being left out?
That has always been the point.
Raise Awareness and ensure EVERYONE has a say in how the city will be shaped.
We encourage you to continue to voice your concerns to councillors, the mayor, the premiere and the TTC to ensure the point gets across;
EVERYONE deserves to be at the table.
The city should be built WITH the people, not AROUND them.
Thank you to everyone for the ongoing support.
