Hello!

It’s been a while since we’ve provided an update on Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s plans to re-provision the town's Golf Centre from it's current location to Down Grange Park.

We are deeply disappointed with the Council’s vote against the motion put forward on 16th October, to review the decision to make Down Grange Park the preferred location. We are also still reeling from the Council’s behaviour in the Chamber, which you can read more about in the Basingstoke Gazette: https://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/news/25556545.grange-complaint-launched-cllr-basham/)

But we are NOT GIVING UP! 

We are working hard to raise awareness and call the Council out where necessary. There is a lot going on, and we are pursuing many action pathways, which we'll try to keep you updated about more frequently.

We are working on the principle that the Council will submit the planning application in December, which is scarily only a month away. We have a lot of work to do, so we are putting out a CALL TO ACTION!!

1.    Write to the Council at this email address: golfcentrerelocation@basingstoke.gov.uk. Ask them questions, raise any concerns you have, suggest alternative locations. If you cc downgrangecommunity@gmail.com we'll get visibility and it'll likely encourage them to reply too. 

2.    Find out what your local Cllrs’ views are. If you don’t know your ward Cllrs you can find out here by using your postcode: https://democracy.basingstoke.gov.uk/mgFindMember.aspx 

3.    Share this petition with everyone you know in Basingstoke – if we get to 4,000 signatures in the Borough, then the  Council must debate it in the Chamber.
