Just wanted to send a quick update thanking you for your efforts to get us over 300 signatures. Please continue sharing the link to the petition with friends, neighbors, and on social media so we can reach our goal of 1,000 signatures.

Here are 2 specific things that will require a little effort that you can help with:

1. Distribute flyers in your neighborhood.  These flyers are a great way to reach people who may not be up on current events in Collierville, aren't active on social media, etc. If you don't have the ability to print flyers and would like copies, please let me know. 2. Respond to arguments on social media.  In rare cases, we have run into individuals on Facebook (specifically the Collierville Watch and Collierville, TN Community pages) and Nextdoor who are arguing against our position. Most of these arguments are pretty weak, but one bad apple can spoil the bunch and discourage likely supporters and petition signers. You can come up with your own reasons for opposing the gas station at that intersection - and there are many - but the best arguments, in my opinion, are:
   1. We don't want another gas station near our neighborhoods.
   2. There are plenty of nearby gas stations, including another approved gas station one exit away near Byhalia and 385, and there is no demand for additional gas stations/convenience stores/car washes in our area.
   3. Gas stations/convenience stores are among the categories of retail establishments that experience the highest rates of violent crime.
   4. The proximity to 385 and Memphis increase the likelihood that these crime magnets will attract transient crime.
   5. Placing a gas station/convenience store on a Carriage Crossing outparcel will only further degrade an outdoor mall/lifestyle center that has lost anchor stores and small businesses over the last several years.

So please respond in support of our petition on Collierville Watch and Collierville, TN Community pages on Facebook and Nextdoor and distribute the linked flyers in your neighborhoods. And. again, if you need copies of the flyers, please let me know, and we can arrange to get some to you at no cost.
