PROTECT FERRY MEADOWS COUNTRY PARK , PETERBOROUGH, FROM DEVELOPERS !

PROTECT FERRY MEADOWS COUNTRY PARK , PETERBOROUGH, FROM DEVELOPERS !
The Issue
OPPOSITION to monstrous, ugly Olympic/ National Competition Climbing Wall with 34.25m high tower (equal to a 12 storey block) & huge attached 'shed' encouraging significantly more traffic, dominating the landscape and ignoring the precious tree line. Plenty of urban sites to regenerate where there is nothing to lose. Ferry Meadows has so much to lose!
This beautiful Park with open natural views, small lakes and fresh air, fantastic protected wildlife and a vast array of quiet country pursuits is under threat. The value on mental health and well- being of this wonderful resource, accessible to ALL, is being ignored as the original ethos of the Country Park is replaced by Nene Park Trust`s aim to provide a busy and noisy sporting activity hub with little regard for wildlife on the proposed site.
SIGN this petition because we need to:
1 .Protect open lake views free for all to enjoy. Specially designed for disabled, elderly, people recovering from illness and pregnant mums to access from their cars beautiful open lake views and grass verge picnic tables, cafe & play area if they cannot walk far.
2. Stop loss of Oak Meadow with its ancient oaks to a giant carpark.
3. Stop increased traffic being given priority over hundreds of pedestrians entering the Park safely at Lynch Farm Bridge & keeping the carbon footprint low.
4. Protect wildlife. NPT's Ecology Survey ignored Bats and has been criticised as it only concentrated on the car park where the Wall will be built. The ACCESS road has not been included in NPT's plans submitted YET is KEY as it is part of an extremely important Wildlife Corridor. Why is an Environmental Impact Assessment not being carried out on both areas?
Ferry Meadows was gifted to the people of Peterborough "to conserve and enhance the natural beauty and visual amenity and to secure public access to this countryside and fresh air".
In today's world protecting green open space, tackling pollution and protection of wildlife MUST take priority over Activity, no matter how important that is, for the survival of the planet.
Please SIGN this petition WHEREVER you live, to ask Peterborough City Council to REJECT these plans and to send a clear message that we want a COUNTRY PARK not an ACTIVITY hub!
This is about issues that affect us ALL. Thank you for your support from the Opposition Group.
