Hi everyone,
We wanted to make you aware of some amends we have made to this petition following specific concerns raised by a third party to Change.org regarding some language in the first iteration.
According to the claimant, our statement that 'Small businesses such as Playball, Teddy Tennis and Boom Boom Netball should not be reliant on negotiating a deal with a private company to be allowed to operate' was 'misleading because the Merton Council's response indicates that many community tennis programmes, including Playball and Teddy Tennis, have been encouraged to continue and grow their programmes as part of the Tennis in Merton family.'
We feel this misses our point that the new arrangement still means negotiating a deal/terms with the new monopoly entitiy, Tennis in Merton, in order to continue operating, regardless of being 'encouraged' to do so.
However, to avoid any misunderstanding, we’ve expanded on certain details for greater clarity, and to the best of our knowledge, the petition provides an accurate summary of the current situation.
Thank you so much for your continued support. We’re excited to share that we’ve surpassed 1,500 signatures! Please continue to share the petition with your network so we can reach our next milestone.
Many thanks,
