Grand Lagoon Hotels Will Impact Traffic Flow

Through a FOIA request, we learned Bay County officials estimate daily traffic flow at the intersection of North Lagoon and Thomas Drive is 1,904. It is not clear what time of year this number was gathered. It is this intersection that guests of the two Marriott hotels that will be built by Jay Odom's hotel group will flow into. This development is moving forward without a traffic study. Pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle traffic will be impacted. The safety of our community is completely being disregarded just because the County Commissioners say it's properly zoned so no impact studies are required. Bay County Commissioner Robert Carroll's engineering company has the contract for this development.
