It’s been quite the day! And a good day to provide you with a couple of updates.

Not only have we surpassed 3,000 petition signatures but we are also extremely happy to hear that our biggest supporter and campaign lead, Indy Wijenayaka, was successfully elected as District Councillor for Withersfield ward and he will ensure that the views and welfare of his constituents are strongly represented.

Indy wanted to share the following with you all:

“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported Muck Off Acorn, whilst we are still awaiting the planning application, which when it is submitted will now receive the level of scrutiny that this community expects from their elected officials.

This victory is not just about party politics, as I know many traditional Conservative voters have lent me their votes, but it’s about recognising that communities can’t be ignored in the face of inappropriate developments and the community needs to be supported and have tangible benefits delivered to them, not see benefits and advantages spirited off to the Thurlow Estate and Acorn, whilst having to put up with just the detrimental downsides.

Rest assured I will be the voice of the community, and as I’ve always been there from the start, I’ll be there to the end. This election victory is part of our collective journey and is a victory for all of us not just me.

I wish to thank everyone who has supported and voted for me , I will do you proud. To those that didn’t vote for me, I still will do my very best to ensure you don’t feel disenfranchised.

All the very best, your new councillor for Withersfield Ward

Indy “

As noted above, we are still waiting for the full application. However, Thurlow Estate has made an application to enlarge the access to land next to the White Horse Pub in the village. This would be for greater access to the proposed site at Spring Grove Farm for HGVs, meaning those vehicles would be travelling down the village roads. All details can be found here under reference DC/23/0572/FUL. They have said it is ‘agricultural’ but really this is industrial as it is a pre-cursor to the AD plant application. We are requesting that this should be considered at County level (like the main application) so it doesn’t bypass the full assessment criteria.

Thank you again for supporting the campaign and we hope you all have a wonderful long weekend!

Best wishes from us all
