The Virtual INQUEST petition calls for National Standards across Australia and New Zealand to ensure simple, timely and consistent open access to Coroners Court proceedings.

Modern open justice means the public and affected families should be able to see, hear and understand how deaths are investigated, including through virtual access. Coronial proceedings are conducted in the public interest and should remain open unless a Coroner decides there is a lawful reason to close the court.

We call for National Inquest DASHBOARDS and for all public Coroners Court listings to include online access links to allow seamless public access to proceedings.

Transparent access strengthens accountability, public confidence, learning and the prevention of future deaths.
