We are all making a difference in getting the OC shelter opened fully to the public and tomorrow, and tomorrow, the OC Board of Supervisors are considering major changes to the shelter. ( Most were in the petition)

Why is this important?
This agenda item would:
✅ Re-open the shelter to visitors during normal hours, including one evening per week (a return to pre-COVID practice).
✅ Require monthly posting of shelter statistics instead of just quarterly (a return to pre-COVID and 2021 practices).
✅ Obtain a report from County Counsel on Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) for cats and how it’s implemented in neighboring jurisdictions.
✅ Create a new community liaison position.
While you’re welcome to mention other needed improvements (and we can all think of a few!), our main goal here is to show strong approval for these positive changes.
Supervisors Janet Nguyen and Vicente Sarmiento introduced this agenda item, so let’s show our appreciation and encourage the rest of the Board to vote YES on these improvements.
