WE..THE PEOPLE!
It is human nature to take the path of least resistance, and the leadership of WDFW is no exception. Let’s face it, they have pensions, position and pride like everyone else.
How we cause them to change is to make “business as usual” so miserably uncomfortable for them, that it makes doing nothing to fix co-management, THE PATH OF MOST RESISTANCE!
The sport fishing community is huge…YOU ARE IMPORTANT! Look how mass uprisings in the past have worked. Look at the “Open Fishing” grass roots movement! THE PEOPLE HAVE POWER, BUT IT NEEDS TO BE FOCUSED AND IT NEEDS TO BE MASSIVE!
The Director of WDFW answers to the Commission. And the Commission is supposed to be THE PEOPLES REPRESENTATIVE! However, the Commission has realized that if they can keep the sportsmen defeated and silent, they will not come together in numbers enough to pose a threat to the status quo!
WE see through this manipulation. We know that without a fair and equal harvest sharing process, all the other issues are meaningless. WE UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE BEING CHOKED OUT OF ALL SPORT FISHING!
Now, more than at any other time, WE DO HAVE A REAL OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE! There are several fronts that are working together at this moment to put the massive pressure needed to MAKE THEM CHANGE. TO MAKE THEM SO UNCOMFORTABLE THAT THEY HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO FACE AND FIX THE BROKEN CO_MANAGEMENT PROCESS!
There are organizations who are challenging WDFW from the legal side. Then there are those that are working with legislation to pressure WDFW. There is also activists who are involved on the political side, since the Governor is putting undue influence in the fisheries. AND there are influential people who are SPEAKING OUT AND DEMANDING CHANGE!
BUT IT’S “WE THE PEOPLE” WHO HAVE TO DO OUR PART!
Each and every one of us has to get involved. We cannot sit back and hope someone else will carry the weight, we cannot feel defeated and give up. WE HAVE TO BE STRONG, RESOLVED AND WILLING TO FIGHT FOR THE SPORT WE LOVE, OR WE WILL SURLY LOSE IT!
We need to have a laser focus IN MASS, on the real and damaging issue that will KILL ALL SPORT FISHING if NOT STOPPED NOW!
We hope the different groups like PSA, CCA and the others, will lay aside their differences and stand in unity with ALL SPORTSMEN. Giving immediate attention to the clear and present danger of the inequality found in the disaster know as North of Falcon.
SO, WHAT CAN YOU DO?
BECOME AN ACTIVIST!
PUT EVERYTHING YOU HAVE INTO THE FIGHT! FORM GROUPS OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS, SPEAK TO MEMBERS OF THE CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS YOU BELONG TO. USE SOCIAL MEDIA.
LASER FOCUS YOUR EFFORTS ON PUTTING THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF PRESSURE ON THE COMMISSION, DIRECTOR SUSEWIND AND THE GOVERNOR. TELL THEM TO CONFRONT AND FIX THE BROKEN CO-MANAGEMENT PROCESS.
KEEP THE PUBLIC PRESSURE ON THEM SO HARD THAT THEY CAN NO LONGER IGNORE THIER RESPONSIBILITIES!
We realize that some feel like “nothing is going to change”. But, if we do nothing, then it is true, nothing will change.
The Commissioners, the Director and the Governor are counting on us to give up, to do nothing and to continue to be content with being taken advantage of.
THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO’VE SUPPORTED THIS FIGHT FOR SO LONG, NOW’S THE TIME FOR YOU TO ACT!
WE THE PEOPLE CANNOT ALLOW THEM IGNORE US ANY LONGER.
