Mr. Pat Pattillo, former WDFW lead negotiator for annual fishery management agreements and long time member of WDFW’s Puget Sound Fisheries Advisory Group, has added his declaration to the Twin Harbors Fish and Wildlife Advocacy’s (THFWA) lawsuit.
There is no doubt that Mr. Pattillo’s experience and first hand knowledge of the inner workings of the WDFW fisheries management process is both extensive and profound.
It goes without saying, the facts that Mr. Pattillo lays out in his declaration are particularly damning to any argument from the leadership of WDFW that the obligations to be transparent in dealing with the public have been meet. To the contrary, it seem’s pretty apparent that those directly involved in the negotiations for WDFW intentionally failed to inform the public on any details concerning the “deals” until after they had been agreed to, and even then, attempted to cover up their actions through false means.
This is what we can expect from a department that is left unchecked and is allowed to continue to negotiate deals in secret.
This is exactly why the legislature created the Open Public Meetings Act, to prevent this type of behavior. AND THIS IS WHY WE ARE FIGHTING SO HARD TO BRING THIS ISSUE TO THE PUBLIC'S ATTENTION AND END THESE SECRET MEETINGS!
THANK YOU MR. PATTILLO FOR YOUR COURAGE IN BRINGING A LITTLE LIGHT ON THE DIRTY DEALS DONE IN THE DARK!
