Representative Liz Pike, 18th Legislative District has sent a letter of support addressed to Director Unsworth and the WDFW Commission. It is very encouraging that we have the support of such a strong advocate for the sportsmen and women of this state as Representative Pike.
It is our understanding that this letter was also made available to Chair Loomis, Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission.
Take a moment and send a note thanking Rep. Pike for her support. She can be reached through email at:

Director Unsworth
Fish Commission
WA State Department of Wildlife
Honorable Director Unsworth and Commissioners:
As public servants, we have the responsibility to represent citizens to the best of our abilities. We must have the ethical and moral courage to do the very best for those who count on us to be their voice in state government.
You have been appointed to serve the hundreds of thousands of sportsmen and women of this state in faithfulness and with conviction to protect and enhance the fisheries of Washington State on their behalf.
It is troubling to learn the Department of Fish and Wildlife conducts negotiations that impact citizens behind locked doors and without any public view. In a free society, open and transparent government is essential.
Without further delay, I urge the Department to pursue meaningful dialogue with stakeholders to identify a solution to address this matter. Delaying this matter or avoiding it all together
violates the trust of our citizens and seriously jeopardizes their continued support.
The conservation and restoration of our natural resources will require the full support and cooperation from all parties. Closed meetings and a prohibition of public knowledge about the process is not a path to maintain that support.
I strongly urge the Department and Commission members to recognize the harm generated by inaction in working to open these meetings. I would ask that you collectively address the issue of these closed door negotiations without delay. Please advise me on any progress being made to resolve this issue.
Lastly, I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation for your continued service to the people of this great state.
Sincerely,
Representative Liz Pike
18th Legislative District
