Dear supporters,
I’m writing with a brief update on the Open Letter, and to thank you again for adding your name and helping it circulate.
Since the last update, the Letter has now gathered over 750 public signatories and has been read by nearly 18,000 people. It continues to travel widely and to be shared across the wellness world. You can view the updated list of signatories, including contributors to the Summit itself, here.
As of today, the Letter remains unanswered by Thomas Hübl. Many leaders in the wellness world continue to maintain silence too. As we are all too aware, however, the genocide in Palestine - despite the apparent implementation of 'ceasefire' - continues, now in the form of a brutalising lack of aid, housing, medical care being allowed in to Gaza as well as ongoing attacks.
For that reason, the work of the Letter continues. It's existence creates an ongoing pressure point, and a reminder to all in this industry that silence and so-called 'neutrality' on genocide in Palestine, and beyond, is no longer an option.
In the coming weeks, the next phase of this initiative is to ensure the Letter lands directly on the desks of at least 500 additional wellness workers to spread this message as far as possible - particularly leading teachers, facilitators, organisers, and platform holders.
If you would like to help with this effort - please reach out: irma.k.allen@gmail.com
Please also follow the Letter on instagram @breakthesilenceongenocide - visible support of the Letter in this form also really helps.
In closing, I'm sharing a few relevant articles - including one of my own:
1) A powerful piece that was shared via the UK Palestine Mental Health Network newsletter, written by the Global Palestine Mental Health Network and the International Collective of the Palestine Mental Health Networks on Professional silence of the mental health industry on genocide.
2) A powerful article by Tareq Baconi on how there's no going back in terms of 'un-seeing' the genocide in Palestine and all that it reveals about the reality of the so-called liberal order.
3) A reflective long-form piece by me on my Substack, entitled Anatomy of Silence, where I write about the experience of attempting to break silence on Palestinian genocide in the wellness world through initiating and working on this Open Letter, and the ongoing challenges and dynamics of that.
If you’re able to help by sharing the Letter, passing it on directly, or otherwise supporting its continued circulation, that support is deeply appreciated. And if you’ve already done what you can, thank you for staying with this.
With gratitude, and in solidarity,
Irma
