A supporter of the Zionism is Racism (ZIR) coalition was called at 5pm today (04/03/20) by a Community Services Officer for Glasgow Life (which manages Glasgow city council venues) to inform them that the room booking for tomorrows ZIR coalition meeting in Govanhill Neighbourhood Centre has been cancelled. She was not able to give a reason why the room had been cancelled (‘no reason’) and said that the decision had been made at a ‘senior management level’ and she had simply been asked to inform us of this. Using the email address provided the ZIR supporter has written to Glasgow Life to ask for an explanation as this is now a matter of public interest.

The meeting space was to be used by the Zionism is Racism coalition. This is a legal campaigning group which brings together local campaigners in defence of Palestine. The coalition were meeting to discuss and organise opposition to Confederation of Friends of Israel - Scotland (CoFIS) participation in the 'Stand Up To Racism' march in Glasgow on 21st March for a fourth year in a row.

We ask everyone concerned with the democratic right to organise, to meet outside the Govanhill Neighbourhood Centre (6 Daisy Street, G42 8JL) at 7pm tomorrow (05/03/20), where we can get a photo, to be used in challenging this attack on our democratic rights and the right to stand with Palestine.
