Change Sexist School Dress Codes

Change Sexist School Dress Codes

The Issue

All throughout Ontario teenaged girls are being discriminated against whilst being at school because of the outfit they are wearing, be that a uniform or not. This act needs to end and we mean to change the sexism of school dress codes.

Currently, there is no legislation or specified law dedicated to distinguishing a common dress code that is meant to be consistent amongst all schools in Ontario or Canada. This leads to more opportunities for schools to discriminate against female students in terms of dress, and makes it easier for unreasonable demands to be made against them. This results in disproportionate punishments to be made towards these students that are being discriminated against.

This issue has led to numerous protests and petitions that have taken place in Canada - all of them started by students who have been discriminated against and their parents. These all occurred as a response to unaccommodating dress codes.
