WOW! In less than one week, there have been almost 15,000 of you who have signed this petition to show your support and protect the rights of women in Ontario to a birth partner for the duration of labour, delivery and postpartum. Thank you for signing, sharing, and telling your stories. Let’s keep going! Now, we have to get this in front of the change makers, the decision makers, and the influencers (the media!). The tough part is, we are fighting for a right that hasn’t fully been taken away… YET! We are asking for protection. Below are a list of contacts – please share your opinion or story with them and send them this petition. Tell them the facts, and tell them about the women, infants, and families at risk, and most importantly, ask for their help!
- Ask for legislation mandating and enforcing that hospitals cannot have the option to fully ban a support person
- Ask for a reversal of the rule that some hospitals have implemented that partners have to leave 2 hours after birth
Please feel free to reach out to any contacts you may have beyond the list below.
