DA welcomes the appointment of an independent investigator to look into the allegations of misconduc

The Democratic Alliance (DA) Caucus in the Mangaung Metro has welcomed the appointment of an independent investigator to look into the allegations tabled against the Municipal Manager, Adv. Tankiso Mea.

On the 18th of March,  the council approved a request tabled by the DA for the City manager to be investigated for misconduct in accordance with the Systems Act disciplinary process for senior management.

Council approved the appointment of the independent team which will consist of Advocate Tobogo Manye SC and Advocate Johan Nel SC. The independents will have full access to documentation and records in relation to matters related to the allegations. The DA also recommended that the City Manager to be placed on precautionary suspension due the serious allegations, but the ANC caucus voted against the recommendation with their majority in council.

The independent team now has 30 days to investigate the allegations against the City Manager and must report back to council. The DA will respect the rule of law and we await in anticipation for the report.

The residents of Mangaung can look forward that this matter is now in the hands of the judiciary and the team can be rest assured that the DA will support them in their quest to get to the truth.
