Happy new school year, everyone! I hope you had a restful long weekend and an easy first few days back. The board is probably hoping we've moved on by now. That's why we need to keep our momentum and show them we've not.
The ESD board meets tonight at 6:30 PM — Educational Services Center, 20420 68th Ave W, Lynnwood. Here's how to help, whatever your day looks like:
1. Speak. Sign up for public comment at the door (the registration starts at 6pm). Even 30 seconds counts — your name, your school, and that you oppose a 7:20 start.
2. Show up with a sign. If you're not speaking, a sign is how the board knows why you're there. Let's make every person in that room count.
3. Can't make it? Submit a written comment by 3:00 PM TODAY. It goes straight into the official record:

Here's a detail worth knowing: tonight the board also adopts its Guiding Principles for the year. The first two are "Students first" and "Equity, always." A 7:20 start — chosen for bus routing, not for student health and safety, landing hardest on our Title I families — is the opposite of both. If you speak, remind them: live up to the principles you're adopting tonight.
