FACT: Wolbachia-infected Aedes is a biotechnology that has been worked on for over 30 years (even though recent posts state "about a decade"). The owner of the page replied to my latest post: "I've forwarded this to the State CDC official." Please, be aware that I'm not an MD and I do not hold a PhD. So, I'm leery to give any advice regarding the treatment of Wolbachia infections. Recently, someone on Facebook pressed me for how to treat these infections. What I can safely say is this: Based on what I've researched about Zika and Wolbachia, heavy-duty antibiotics would be needed. If I (or someone I knew) was infected, I would want to see azithromycin and rifampin (combined) be administered to knock out the infection as quickly as possible. Keep in mind, many people are allergic to some types of antibiotics (so this will need to be individually assessed between a doctor and his or her patient). Yes, it's that powerful. So when ophthalmologists tell you uveal melanoma is a genetic disease, this STILL implicates Wolbachia. If you can, please ask someone you know to sign our petition. I am adding Senator Larry Stutts to our petition since it appears that he is willing to look into this. Remember, family can sign and exact info isn't required.
